Raku, White Crackle with underglazes, C-12

$65.00

Crackle glazes are probably the first glaze any raku artist in introduced to. It is simple, easy to work with and hard to not get right.

Coming out of the kiln the glaze cools quicker than the clay body. This causes the glaze to break, crack and crackle. Place in the trash can with combustibles. Similar to naked raku, I want the heavy reduction, or lots of smoke. The carbon gets into the cracks and when everything cools the glaze has contracted and “fits” the clay again. Very pretty effect.

Every Raku fired ceramic piece is a beautiful work of art. A must for every ceramics collector.

Raku is not food safe or water tight.
