Raku Fired Ceramics, Coppet Matte

$85.00

Copper Matte

My copper based glazes have copper carbonate as the primary colorant. I glaze a wheel thrown and bisque piece in my Raku kiln. I raise the temperature to approximately 1800 degrees. Once heated, I remove the piece from the kiln and place it in a metal trashcan filled with combustibles. The flames bring out the copper color. Within seconds the glaze will react with the air and start to change colors from copper to magenta and blues through yellows and greens. I close the can and allow it to cool and then wash off any residual ash. The artwork is complete.

Every Raku fired ceramic piece is a beautiful work of art. A must have for any ceramics collector.

Raku is not water tight nor food safe.
